Home Ski Shop

I used to have a pretty good storage and ski wax set up behind the Xterra.  The recent replacement of the Armada (and the additional extra feet in vehicle length) brought a consequence of losing that area as you can see below:

Now that Mnt. Bike season is over I stored the 4 bikes in the basement freeing up the third garage spot.  This gave me the space but I needed to come up with a good way to wax the skis and store them.
I happened to have a couple extra saw horses in the garage and a small amount of extra wood.  I ran up to Lowes purchased a cement board(hot ski wax, ptex on fire, better option than plywood) and some hangers.
I had everything I needed to start and this was the result:
Just a couple old saw horses and some extra wood to start
 Hangers added for ski storage
Cement Board, for the top surface.  More fireproof than wood.  Ptex on fire hot iron etc.

I mounted vices to hold the skis

A spot for all the required tools for ski waxing:
 Here it is!

I am pretty happy how it turned out and cant wait to see it in action this ski season!

Duthie Trip

Sean, Mike, Chris and I headed out and rode Duthie.  Anything wooden was a little sketchy and slippery but everything else was in great shape.  Chris' first time on a bike in 15 years and he rode my wife's bike.  Did a great job!

CGR Mountain Bike Trip Crystal Mountain Loop July 27th

So Sean and I have both got new bikes this summer.  I got a Cannondale Claymore 2 and Sean got a Rock Mountain Slayer 70.  We have had about 8 trips to Duthie a few trips to Dash Point but decided to mix it up and head to good old Crystal Mountain this weekend!  We got super lucky because Jessie Haley was going to go hiking with her boy Todd up at Crystal and they decided to join us for a bike ride instead.
It was an amazing loop but Crystal seriously needs to get with the program and allow bikes on the gondola..... that was a long way up!  The ride was amazing!

Feb 2013 CGR Powder Skiing!

February was actually dry for rainfall standards but you would never know it from the Powder we found.
Courtney and I took our annual anniversary trip up to ski in AK!
The trip was great, we were able to see our friends Genny and Matt's amazing new house in Anchorage and then head up to Alyeska.  When we caught the first Tram of the day we got off to 10 inches of new snow! the conditions were awesome all day!

We came back from AK and I lucked out big time the next weekend at Crystal!
Mike, Sean and I purchased First Tracks tickets so we got to ski an extra hour earlier than everyone else on a powder day!  Once they opened the gates for everyone else we headed to Southback twice and had a great day!

This was the view from our room, you can see the bottom of the Tram on the bottom left and the top of the Tram at the top Right

Another view from our room when it was dumping snow

1st CGR Post of 2013

2013 is off to a good start, great snow and more sun than we have had all season!

Two hwy 410 runs in, first did not go exactly to plan and the second was kind of a disaster.....
But look how close we got to finding the trail we were supposed to ski down!
The trail is just north of the Crystal Creek we skied in red

Good fresh tracks on the 12th, from left to right, Mike, Me and Sean
A great video to wrap it up including International skier Dan Mark visiting from all the way from Costa Rica!
